Girls' Weekend Planning

My four best friends from college (plus a baby!) are visiting next weekend, which is very exciting... I don't think we've all seen each other at once since we graduated. Because I'm the host, I've been planning, inspired partly by two books, Girls' Night In by Jennifer Worick and The Secret Language of Girlfriends by Karen Neuburger. I've stocked up on cosmo ingredients and chick flicks. And I realize that this all sounds completely stereotypical, but I also think (hope) it will work... anyone else ever host a girls' weekends who can offer tips?

The thing I am most worried about is the baby situation. I have no idea what a one and a half year old can do -- can it go to a museum? to dinner? stay up past 8? So I'm just kind of hoping it will work out.

Hi...I have been reading your blog for a little while.

I have a 12 month old and a 23 month old. I'm on the Britney plan..

My kids have a regular nap at 12:30pm and a regular bedtime of 7:30pm. I can do almost anything with them in the mornings and dinner works out best when it is around 5pm, before restaurants get busy and servers get to busy to bring you what you need quickly.

I would find out what the baby's schedule is and plan around that. The Mother will think you are the most thoughtful person in the whole world. Babies are pretty flexible as long as they have some food. Have lots of snacks! And paper and crayons!

Have a great time!

Ooh, have a great time. Sounds like fun, even with a baby. Plan your raucous events after bedtime and do some spa events during the day during naptime, if you can. I'm sure it will be fun and fine!

I think I need to put together a spa day soon...

Ice cream and/or cupcakes work well for both girls and toddlers :)

Have fun!

Ask mom if she is bringing a baby moniter and a portable crib. If so, you'll be pretty set if you can provide a close, but not too close, room for baby to go to sleep in around 7:30/8:00
That will be a great time for the cosmos and the chick flicks. Plan the going out activities for the daytime. Everyone can take turns holding and caring for the child. 4 "aunties" to spoil the child will make it feel like it is in heaven!
